cold laser therapy
What is cold laser therapy?
Cold laser therapy (also known as low level laser therapy or LLLT, laser biostimulation, or photobiomodulation) is a therapeutic medical technique using specific wavelengths of certain intensities delivered by laser, LED, or other monochromatic source. The therapy can aid in regenerating tissue, reducing inflammation, relieving pain, increasing range of motion, boosting immunity, and increasing healing by 25 to 40%.
What does cold laser therapy do for me?
Cold laser therapy can be used to treat a number of complaints, including:
- Sports and work-related injuries
- Acute localized pain
- Neck, back, shoulder, hip, leg, and knee pain
- Headaches, stiff neck
- Muscle spasms
- Repetitive stress injuries and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- TMJ disorder
- Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
How does cold laser therapy work?
Cold laser therapy is applied directly to the sore or irritated area. Because the laser levels are “subthermal” — produce too little heat to be sensed — the patient feels almost no immediate sensation.
