How does chiropractic work?
During a chiropractic visit, your doctor will identify spinal “subluxations”, or misaligned joints, and realign the joint using one of two main adjustment techniques. The first technique is manual manipulation, a gentle thrust at a specific location along the spine chosen to correct the misalignment. This method sometimes produces a “cracking” sound often associated with chiropractic care. An alternative method, using a tool called an “activator”, is gentler yet. An activator is a hand-held tool used by your doctor to deliver a high-velocity, low force “tap” at the selected location, also adjusting a misalignment.
